Firepower 0.84 A multiplayer tank game designed for play over a dialup internet connection A multiplayer tank game which is playable over the Internet by up to 32 players. It reminds me of Bolo for the Mac, but is not related to it. The game is like capture the flag, but you can harvest trees, build walls and bridges, and lay mines to hinder the opposing team. It's designed to be perfectly playable over a 14.4k SLIP/PPP connection to the Internet. action free img off on off off on on 1998-09-01 bobz 1998-11-02 16:05:42 14 ftp://ftp.x.org/contrib/games/multiplayer/xfirepower-0.84.tar.gz 2001-10-12 01:20:03 off
Hearts A networked multiplayer version of the Hearts card game. The hearts card game. The client/server design allows multiple players to connect across a network, or you can play against the three computer opponents. It can be compiled with either Motif or Athena widgets. mia free img off on off off on on 1998-09-01 bobz 1998-11-02 16:23:50 14 ftp://ftp.x.org/R5contrib/xhearts.tar.Z 2001-01-07 22:13:10 off
Xmine Paul Falstat www Xmine LSM Entry 1.0.3 An implementation of Minesweeper for X. Xmine is an implementatin of the classic Minesweeper game which looks exactly like the version for that other popular windowing system. The binary, which has Motif statically linked, is a whopping 840k stripped; there's not much bang for the byte here. As minesweeper games go, I think Xdemineur is a better deal. strategy free img off on off off off off 1998-09-01 bobz 1998-11-02 22:54:13 14 www 2001-01-07 22:13:10 off
Pente William Shubert www LSM Entry 2.0.5 An X11 version of the Pente board game. This is an implementation of the Asian strategy game ni-nuki, which is a version of go-moku. Players place stones on a grid, and the first person to either place five in a row, or capture five pairs of his opponent's stones, wins. Two humans can play at the same terminal, but not (yet) across a network. board free img off on off off on off 1998-09-01 bobz 1998-11-02 17:15:27 14 www 2001-06-10 18:45:49 off
XAtaxx A board game whose object is to have the most pieces of your color on the board This is an X version of the arcade game Ataxx with simple graphics. The object is to have the most pieces of your color on the board by the end of the game. On your turn, you can either clone a glob into an adjacent empty square, or make a glob jump to a new space. Adjacent enemy globs get converted to your color after you make your move. board free img off on off off on on 1998-09-01 bobz 1998-11-02 18:51:18 14 www 2001-01-07 22:13:10 off
ADOM Thomas Biskup www www Complete changelog www DOS and OS/2 Version 1.1.1 A promising roguelike game. ADOM is a character-cell-based roguelike game along the lines of angband and moria. The commands are not quite consistent with nethack ('D' to quaff a potion, for example). The cursor keys don't work in an xterm, and there is no option to use a roguelike command set, so I ended up using the 1-9 number keys on the main keyboard. Since this was annoying, I haven't played the game enough to give it a fair rating. But it appears to have a rich skill set, and otherwise looks promising. rpg free img off on on off off off 1998-09-01 bobz 1998-11-02 00:00:00 14 www www Windows Version (beta)
ncurses-lib 2002-11-28 09:01:30 off
Virtual Combat David Jameson www www LSM Entry 2.01 A multiplayer 3d combat game. A multi-player 3d combat game where you try to shoot your enemy and the enemy robots while walking around in a virtual world. It's not as fast-paced and engaging as a Doom/Quake deathmatch, and not as much fun as Netmaze. It may call for more strategy and dodging than the others, though, since a major limitation on how fast you can fire is the cooling-off period of your weapon. action free img off on off off on on 1998-09-01 bobz 1998-11-02 18:43:41 14 www 2001-01-07 22:13:10 off
Terroid Digital Nightmares www www Terroid LSM entry 1.4 Fast action side-scrolling shooter gmae. Terroid is a side-scrolling shoot-em-up action game. The graphics are beautiful, albeit hard to see in the tiny 320x200 window. As of version 1.2, the keyboard handling was somewhat unprofessional--- it didn't respond immediately to keypresses. The shareware demo is limited to two levels, but it looks like a lot of fun. mia shareware img off on off off off off 1998-09-01 bobz 1998-11-02 18:34:31 14 ftp://sunsite.unc.edu/pub/Linux/games/arcade/Terroid-1.4-486-elf.tar.gz 2001-01-07 22:13:10 off
Sol #CLEARED# 1.0.3 A decent implementation of the traditional Klondike solitaire game. Sol is another version of the traditional Klondike solitaire game for X. Its main feature is a highscore list, where the score reflects how long it took to solve the game. If you're looking for a good game of solitaire, I'd recommend taking a look at XPat2. mia free img off on off off off off 1998-09-01 bobz 1998-11-02 17:58:22 14 2001-01-07 22:13:10 off
