AI Research - Train your robots to battle against other robots |
<p>Our novel experimental game is called NERO, which stands for Neuro-Evolving Robotic Operatives. It is set in a fictional post-apocalyptic world, where robots struggle over the relics of human civilization.
<p>
Although it resembles some RTS games, unlike most RTS games NERO consists of two distinct phases of play. In the first phase individual players deploy robots in a 'sandbox' and train them to the desired tactical doctrine. Once a collection of robots has been trained, a second phase of play allows players to pit their robots in a battle against robots trained by some other player, to see how well their training regimens prepared their robots for battle. The training phase is the most innovative aspect of game play in NERO, and is also the most interesting from the perspective of AI research. |

Currently it takes about 16 MB of RAM and 1.6 MB of disk space. A Celeron 500 or greater with 8 MB graphics card is recommended. Software acceleration is okay, but hardware acceleration will give a 3X estimated performance boost. |

XBattle[AI] is a realtime strategy game in it's purest form. You are fighting on a graph (map) where certain nodes continously produces energy (troops) and you fight by drawing arrows along the edges where troop movements should occur. Obviously, this oneline description is an oversimplification of the game since there exists lots of options and more interesting features than just moving the troops on a graph.
XbattleAI adds the possibity to play against computer controlled players and to choose AI algorithm for CPU opponents.
If you are not familiar with Xbattle, the game may look a bit confusing at first. A quick and easy tutorial is distributed with game. It really worth a try... |

Soviet Unterzögersdorf (pronounced oon-taa-tsee-gars-doorf) is the last existing appanage republic of the USSR. The enclave maintains no diplomatic relationship with the surrounding so-called «Republic of Austria» or with the Fortress «European Union». The downfall of her motherland -- the Soviet Union -- in the early 1990s had a particularly bad effect on the country's economic situation.
</p>
<p>
It is a great challenge to secure survival for the small but proud confederation. External reactionary forces put the country in danger. It's a lack of respect due to a morally corrupted and perhaps even non-existing unity of the peoples. The goal of a glorious future is almost unreachable.
</p>
<p>
But there are a handful of people who don't give up on a vision for a better tomorrow. Let us tell you the stories of the brave citizens in the beautiful little country of Soviet Unterzögersdorf.
</p>
<p>
It's a story that will go into history.
