Needs two improvements: you have to turn down all the graphic stuff to be able to see the enemies well (better contrast with the default effects and background colors would make it better), and the controls are too touchy, making it difficult to easily land in a desired slot at times -- Tempest2k had a sort of stick-and-go control method that made stopping where you want a bit easier.

Fabulous! Something both myself and my 7yo boy can play together without him getting creamed constantly. (He picked up on things quickly, and while he's not a strong player [nor am I] it's still his favourite game.)
It's easy to learn the controls (I remapped a couple things in "Options"). It works well with both joystick and mouse.
Despite its simple premeses and high degree of playability, it's a difficult game to master (will not become boring soon), and the variety of people playing keeps it interesting. ("Two Towers" is our favourite server: challenging with great sportsmanship.)
Some complain about poor graphics... they're plenty serviceable, look clean, and work on a wide variety of machines (slow and fast). I have no complaints because it's the high-entertainment gameplay that counts on this game.
Just my two bits, unadjusted for inflation.

A go engine that can actually play??!! |
Yes, you read correctly. This engine actually works. I am a rather half-assed go player myself, but I have kicked the tar out of a couple of different engines. This one actually managed to beat me, after about an hour of vicious struggling. Its about as good a go engine as you can find (which I admit isn't saying all that much since there aren't that many out there) and well worth it for all of the half-assed go players out there, like myself. |

Pretty simply concept. Similar to othello, keep changing the other guy's pieces to your color. I couldn't beat the applet in the default setting, but I didn't play for very long. |
