A text mode Quake server browser |
QuakeLaunch is a nice, simple Quake server browser that you can run in the console. It's based on <a href="http://gametome.linuxquake.com/show?qstat">qstat</a> by Steve Jankowski. <p>
If you can't or don't want to use an X-based server browser like <a href="http://gametome.linuxquake.com/show?xqf">XQF</a>, this is a good alternative. |

server for an online multiuser virtual world, implemented in perl |
<p>Perlmoo is a server for a virtual world, a computer program which users can log into and explore. Each user takes control of a computerized persona / avatar / incarnation / character. You can walk around, chat with other people, solve puzzles, and even create your very own rooms, descriptions and items.</p>
<p>Perlmoo is intentionally similar to lambdamoo from the user's perspective, but it's written as object oriented perl code, that can easily be modified and expanded. It's possible to code new object in perl while the moo is running.</p>
<p>Perlmoo has been supersceded by its successor, mooix. Check out <a href="http://mooix.net/">mooix's website</a> for details about mooix.</p> |

1.20 |
An classic(?) platform jumping game ported from the ZX Spectrum. |
"Miner Willy, while prospecting down Surbiton way, stumbles upon an ancient, long forgotten mine-shaft. On further exploration, he finds evidence of a lost civilisation far superior to our own, which used automatons to dig deep into the Earth's core to supply the essential raw materials for their advanced industry. After centuries of peace and prosperity, the civilisation was torn apart by war, and lapsed into a long dark age, abandoning their industry and machines. Nobody, however, thought to tell the mine robots to stop working, and through countless aeons they had steadily accumulated a hugh stockpile of valuable metals and minerals, and Miner Willy realises that he now has the opportunity to make his fortune by finding the underground store."
<p>
Manic Miner is a platform game in the classic style - many would say that Matthew Smith's original 1983 version was the very game which popularized the genre.
<p>
This port brings Andy Noble's updated 1997 version of the game to the UNIX platform, introducing updated graphics, sound and music but attempting to maintain the precise gameplay of the original. |
