Installs Unreal 1 under Linux |
Chunky's announcement on Linuxgames:

I've put together an Unreal I installer for Linux for if you have UT installed and an Unreal I CD. It's like the old unrealI installer was, but it's cooler for several reasons:

It doesn't complain about opening vortex2 when you try to start a new game

It has modified openUT stuff for things like prefs dir being ~/.loki/unreal

It uses Loki_setup

The secondary storage footprint is much smaller, since most stuff ends up symlinked out of the UT dir.
|

A 3D multi-player network game involving Cars, Pickups and a bit of mayhem |
DeathTruckTion v1.0 is a multiplayer 3D network game put together by TNTeam.

BTW, my school project is finished... it's a "crappy" 3D game using OpenGL, SDL (and of course JEDI-SDL with Delphi and Kylix :-), FMod and Indy (network components for server and client), which works great under Windows and
Linux. The game itself is not interesting, but maybe the source is :).
I have no idea about the license, because I am using graphics from other
games which is not quite legal anyway. Since I didn't figure out how to
upload the (source) file to the yahoogroup thingy, I _temporarily_ uploaded it here.
Basically you can do whatever you want with the code... but I don't
think it's a good demo for JEDI-SDL, it may be a little bit too complex
for a demo :). Anyway, if you
find something interesting in it you are free to use it in your own
projects, or release some part like you want.
For those who are trying to do some 3D with Delphi/OpenGL, the
TNT-3D engine might be interesting... but it's completely undocumented.
If someone wants to write a tutorial about it or something like that I
will explain the inner working of the engine :)

Clem does not have any time to continue developing the game and engine so I suggested he create a SourceForge account so that others who may be interested can develop the game, engine change the textures etc further.
The current homepage of the TNTeam and it's demo can be found @
http://dtt.spinet.org and you can cop a look at some screen shots @
http://deathtrucktion.spinet.org/screenshots.php.

If anyone finds this interesting or would like to lead such a project, please let me know so we can set up a project of sorts for people to get
involved in.
BTW. If you are going to play with the demo make sure there is a game server running (either locally or at your friends house) before trying to connect with the game client. |

Linux 3D client for Starship Traders |

A new version of the Starship Traders multiplayer strategy game. The new version, ST2, has a 3D interface and includes an X-Window-based client program. ST2 is considerably faster than its WWW predecessor and integrates a graphical display and point-and-click mouse controls with a complete keyboard interface. Linux users are needed to participate in the first test game since no other operating systems are yet supported.

The new server is up and running now and a Linux version of the client is available. The client is a dynamically linked Linux x86 binary and requires the Mesa3D or OpenGL libraries -- which should already be installed on most modern distributions. Internet access is also required to play in the test game, of course.

The screenshot shows a sector with a starbase, a planet, a tradingpost, some sector debris, a few fighters, a wormhole, and, if you look closely, a couple of small starships in the lower left quadrant intermixed with the text. This screenshot is with the window at 640x480. For a less cluttered appearance you can click resize -- while playing -- to expand (or shrink) the window.
|
