v1.06 |
TZO is a Dynamic DNS utility for TCP/IP games |
TZO allows you to set a permanent name for your constantly changing dynamic IP address, which you can distribute to your friends. Log on and TZO's servers will take your current IP address and stamp your name to it. Then your friends can find your computer on the Internet by name, without those long, cryptic IP
numbers. This is especially useful for
hosting multiplayer games on your
computer. You can also use it for video
conferencing, Internet phones, and running your own Web, FTP, or remote-access servers from your cable modem or dial-up account. Log in, run TZO, and your computer is ready to take HTTP, FTP, or remote-control requests at
yourname.tzo.com. TZO may be tried free for 30 days and is compatible with Linux as well as Windows. |

2.0.0 |
A graphical RPG along the lines of Bard's Tale. |
Anoraks of Doom is part one of a trilogy called The Anchovy Trilogy. It is a console-mode (320x200) CRPG along the lines of Bard's Tale. The user-interface is difficult and unintuitive in places, the graphics aren't
spectacular, but there are dungeons and towns and blacksmiths and healers and everything you'd expect in a RPG. There may even be a plot. Character
advancement and the combat system are unlike any other system I've encountered, and the hex-based grid is downright weird. But at least there's an automap. |

1.7.0 |
Yadex is a Doom/Doom II/Heretic level (wad) editor for X. |
Yadex is a Doom level (wad) editor for Unix systems running X, including Linux. It supports Doom alpha, Doom beta, Doom, Ultimate Doom, Final Doom, Doom II, Heretic and also, in a more or less limited way, Hexen and Strife. It is available under the terms of the GPL.

Yadex is descended from DEU 5.21. Therefore, as you might expect, it's a rather low-level editor that requires you to take care of a lot of detail but on the flip side allows you to control very precisely what you are doing. In addition, it has many advanced functions that DEU didn't have, to make certain tedious tasks easy. |

go AI opponent |
This is an AI opponent for an intense strategy game called "go".

Unlike chess, which is relatively easy to computerize, programs aren't all that good at go. I consider this a testament to go's rich strategy.

If you want a really good opponent, check out cgoban, which lets you play humans at go. But if you'd rather practice against a computer first, baduki is a reasonable choice.

baduki has a GTK+ interface, or you
can play under cgoban with the GMP
protocol.
