A dating / farming sim |
<p>The Flower Shop is a dating and farming simulation game.</p>
<p>Steve's life has just taken a downward turn. His grades from
his first semester in college are dismal, his relationship
with his girlfriend is rocky at best, and now his dad is shipping
him off to some farm for the summer so that he can "build
character." What's a poor, lazy, college kid to do?</p>
<p>Take control of Steve as he spends a summer in Fairbook,
working on the farm, making new friends, and maintaining old
relationships.</p>
<p>You can raise and sell your own crops, but you'll have to
work hard to keep your land well watered and free of weeds
and insects, or your crops will fail. Stop by the flower shop
to buy more seeds, but choose wisely. Some plants take longer
to mature, and some crops will get you a better return at
the market.</p>
<p>There are four girls who you can spend time with. Maintain
a good relationship with them by spending time with them and
learning about their hopes and dreams. You can impress them
by improving your skills, but if you only focus on one thing,
they won't be interested. Build a strong enough friendship,
and it might even bloom into romance.</p>
<p>You can plan your weeks and who you spend time with using
the weekly scheduler. Customize each week, spend time with
who you like, or ignore everyone and work all day. Don't forget
to take a break once in a while, or your health will suffer.</p>
<p>The game features nine different endings that change based
on your decisions throughout the game. Will Steve finally
learn to be responsible? A good farmer, even? Will he make
up with his girlfriend, find a new romance, or end up alone?</p>
<p>It's all in your hands.</p> |

Role Playing Massively Multiplayer Online Game |
<p>The role-playing game Ryzom takes place in the year 2531 on planet Atys.<br />
Unlike other planets, Atys is one enormous tree, large enough to sustain an atmosphere and multiple ecosystems on its surface and within its immense underground caves created by large networks of branches and roots.
<p>Four distinct humanoid races, or 'homins', came to exist on Atys hundreds of years prior to the game's current timeline (although it is not specified how or why!) These races developed into separate and fairly isolated societies, inside their own favoured ecosystem. Interacting benevolently with all four homin cultures, but hostile towards each other, were two far more advanced races: the Kami, the legendary magical spirits of the earth, and the Karavan, the techno warriors from outer space. The Kami are depicted as elusive, chaotic, playful, and highly protective of Atys, while the Karavan are more secretive and have never been shown outside their protective suits or far from their machinery.
<p>In the game year 2481, the homin races were nearly exterminated when the hostile and horrific mutated insect-like Kitins were accidentally released from their home deep within Atys' roots. The surviving homin refugees began working together in 2485 to rebuild a single, mixed society in relatively remote areas. Soon after that came the additional threat of the 'Goo', a spreading infestation that renders areas uninhabitable and drives wildlife mad with rage.
<p>Come and discover the hidden mysteries of this world. But be careful; your choices will impact not only you, but the world of Ryzom as well!

<p>Upon entering the game you land from your transport and establish your base. Here you conduct research, design and manufacture vehicles, build new structures and prepare your plans of global conquest. If the game goes badly you'll end up fighting last ditch battles here to defend your base from enemy attacks.

Combat is frenetic, with extensive graphical effects and damage to the terrain and buildings giving rise to flying shrapnel and boulders. Within the game are many different structures and vehicles. Strategic puzzle on network for 2-4 players |
In turn of roles each player will be able to place a pile on the game. When a player play a pile so as to buckle a square, a light in the color of the player ignites in the corresponding square.
The player score one point and can play again immediately. The game finished when all the plate is filled. The winner is who has accumulate the most points.
<p>
Note: players have 20 seconds to play. After this time the server plays for the player.

<p>System Requirements Linux
<br />Hive Rise needs a current Linux with at least kernel 2.6.23 or higher, Xorg 1.4 or higher and GTK 2.12 or higher.
<br />OpenGL hardware acceleration must be activated.
<br />On a 64 Bit Linux (X86_64) you'll need all 32 bit compatibility libraries. Also the OpenGL drivers have to be installed with 32 bit support.

This is a port of the Freespace 2 code that was released by Volition Inc in April 2002. From the project web page at Icculus.org:

There is still a lot of work to do, but both the demo and full game run great. If you don't already own the full game, you may have a hard time finding it for sale, as copies of the game are pretty scarce these days. Be sure to apply the 1.2 patch for the full version, if you have not already.

If you don't have the full game, you can download a demo version from the Volition page listed below.
<p>There is much enthusiastic work going on at the Freespaec Source Code Project, including a Babylon 5 total conversion. Their code incorporates the icculus linux SDL/OpenAL code, and compiles under linux.
<p>The Freespace 2 code has also been adapted to work with the Freespace 1 data files, so if you own Freespace: The Great War and/or Silent Threat, you can play it using the linux client at http://icculus.org/~ravage/freespace/ |

For multi & network, it's best to use the Source Code Project... ;) Especially when version 3.6.10 comes out (soon, perhaps in a few weeks - October '07?)
Go to http://www.hard-light.net/forums, make a user account, and look in the forums for Turey's FreeSpace Open Installer... it gets the entire game + FSPort (FS1 + ST ported to FS2) for you! (And that's not all!)
If you search for member jr2, and look in his sig, you will find a link to a Walkthough... although I doubt you'll need one. ;) Also there you will find links to alternative Installers. |
